2018 Asian Games

The 2018 Asian Games (also known as the XVIII Asiad) is the largest sporting event in Asia and is governed by Olympic Council of Asia. The selection process yet begin, however several countries already announced their interest in bidding this Games.

Flag of Vietnam Hanoi, Vietnam

After bowed out in a bidding to India for 2014 Asian Games, Vietnam are looking forward to hosting the 2018 event in Hanoi. Nguyen Hong Minh, vice president of Vietnam Olympic Committee said they have credibility in hosting the big events after successful organized the 2003 Southeast Asian Games and also APEC meeting in November 2006. Minh added the 11 years span between 2007 and 2018 will allow the improvement of country's sport infrastructure.

Flag of the Philippines Manila, Philippines

The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) plans to bid for the 2018 Asian Games in the capital city of Manila. According to POC Chairman Robert Aventajado, this is not far from reality if the country can acquire the right funds for the games. Aside this, the country has successfully hosting the Southeast Asian Games in 2005 and will host again in 2019.

Flag of Singapore Singapore

The Singapore Sports Council is considering bid to host the 2018 Asian Games after the city-nation had secure several mega sporting events like Formula One and will host the 2013 Southeast Asian Games. The country also on a bid for 2010 Youth Olympic Games and in the development of Sports Hub which expected to be open in 2011.

Flag of the United Arab Emirates Dubai, United Arab Emirates

President of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah said Dubai is considering to bid for 2018 event. Previously, Dubai is bidding for 2014 event, however they withdrew because "not seriously considering this matter".
